What is the role about?  

In this role, you will collaborate with a team of multidisciplinary engineers and project managers to explore new and creative solutions that will meet business objectives such as profitability, schedule, and compliance. You will serve as a technical lead on projects requiring expertise in mechanical design and fabrication. This role is essential for converting conceptual designs into final engineering solutions, with a strong emphasis on creating high-quality, manufacturable, and cost-effective designs using Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling and design. You will be given the autonomy to create new repeatable solutions offerings and work on unique applications for our customers. You will be empowered to continuously learn and grow your technical and professional skills with the support from the organization.  

Which tasks will you perform? 

  • Serve as the technical lead for mechanical design and fabrication projects, providing technical guidance and oversight from conceptualization through production to ensure project success.  
  • Produce comprehensive technical drawings including General Arrangement Drawings, Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID), Piping Layouts, Piping Isometric Drawings, Structural and Mechanical Fabrication Drawings, and detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) for designs.  
  • Create and translate conceptual designs into final engineering designs that comply with critical welding specifications, piping standards, and other local codes to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency.  
  • Design piping and instrumentation systems and skids, ensuring adherence to industry best practices for equipment selection, process connections, fittings, and material selection.  
  • Develop testing procedures for fabrication and conduct factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) to inspect and test fabricated assemblies for quality and compliance.  
  • Collaborate as a part of a project team including sales, engineering, and project management by developing concept designs, attending design review meetings, and project execution planning.  
  • Provide fabricator management by selecting fabricators who ensure high-quality manufacturing, competitive pricing, timely delivery, and are capable to build to project design specifications.   
  • Assist the engineering team on creating 2D/3D electrical panel and cabinet layouts.   
  • Perform advanced engineering calculations for weight estimations, load-bearing capacity, strength and stress analysis, valve selection and sizing, and safety and relief systems.   

What do we expect from you? 

You will have (required): 

  • Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering, design, or technology 
  • Travel required: approximately 10%  

You may have (preferred): 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, design, or technology. 
  • 3+ years of experience in Mechanical and CAD design. 
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling, along with experience in mechanical assemblies, piping, and structural systems, including familiarity with welding and piping standards (ASME, API, ANSI, ISO) and local codes. 
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings, as well as perform seismic, vibration, and wind analysis.
