Under general supervision, the Mechanical Engineer performs design work of special products consisting of sensors, fittings and related products, including mechanical design, material/part specifications, and engineering documentation; performs sensor tests to verify designs; and performs other related functions as needed.

 

Role + Responsibilities  
•    Development of designs for special products locally or together with sites in Germany
•    Design, calculation, creation of drawings/documents and offers as well as creation in relevant SAP - databases
•    Processing of orders and production support
•    Ensuring product safety and quality and meeting delivery deadlines
•    Optimization and spare parts creation for special products
•    Design and modification of optical sensors, sub-assemblies, and parts based on feedback from application/sales engineers and customers; estimate costs. 
•    Create mechanical drawings, bill of materials (BoMs), work instructions for manufacturing and assembly procedures. 
•    Document and maintain mechanical drawings, BoMs, work instructions and other related documents in SAP system. 
•    Assemble and test sensors to verify/validate designs.
•    Support certification engineer, clarify technical questions regarding sensor designs, functions, and work principles. 


Qualification + Profile  
•    B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required 

•    4-8 years experience in Mechanical Design 

•    Experience with CREO, PRO/E, SolidWorks and optical sensors.   
•    Knowledge of mechanical design principles, standards, and practices in manufacturing.
•    Knowledge of material properties, test methods/standards, and material selections for mechanical designs.
•    Knowledge of optical sensors, pH probes, photometers, conductivity meters, and other electronic analyzers and measurement devices.
•    Ability of organizing, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines. 
•    Computer skills including MS Office, SAP, and other specialized software such as ThermoFisher  FTIR and Lambda 1050 Spectrometer SW. 
•    Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
•    Excellent team player.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $115,000 depending on experience
