Within the scope of assigned Raman products, the Product Manager will plan new product offerings and support existing products. This position is supported with industry management to provide a comprehensive product offering to the applications within the industries served by the company.  This position covers existing Raman analyzers, probes, optics, fibers, and sub-components. 

 

Role + Responsibilities  

  • Act as the conduit between product engineering and customers by formalizing the needs of the market so that plans can be developed to fulfill those needs. The Product Manager will create and maintain market requirement documents (MRD) and work with outsides sales, business development, customers, and product marketing to develop and approve final market requirements
  • The Product Manager works with product engineering and program/project coordinators to communicate, clarify, and achieve the agreed upon market requirements
  • Work with engineering to establish and publish product specifications and performance characteristics
  • Responsible for collaborating with business systems and product engineering to develop, publish and maintain the top-level product configurations
  • Work with product development teams and other stakeholders to ensure milestone deliverables are met for release of new products.
  • Lead and influence others to ensure product launch requirements are completed, including price lists, spare parts lists, application notes, measurement specifications, manuals, typical drawings, certifications, PowerPoint presentations, manufacturing readiness, service readiness, and sales readiness
  • Manage the list of development and sustaining engineering priorities for product development for assigned area of responsibility
  • Ensure correct KPIs are reported by the responsible departments and that published data provides value to management of the company
  • Work with sales channels, customer service and technical service groups in support of existing products under scope of responsiblity
  • Work with manufacturing, R&D, engineering, and other stakeholders to assess feasibility of sales opportunities for non-standard products and make bid or no-bid decisions for non-standard/custom products based on policy
  • Work with communications to publish product notices including notices of change and train appropriate teams on the impact of said notices. 

 

Qualification + Profile  

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a science field is required. Qualification or field experience in product management is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, 10 years preferred, in a product management role. 
  • Product marketing experience is desired
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including experience with public speaking 
  • Excellent writing skills, good grammar, sentence structure, copywriting and editing, bulletins, mass communications, meeting minutes, etc. 
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) softwares
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Graphic design and drawing skills are a plus (communicating ideas with images and illustrations) 
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation is plus
