What is the role about? 

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing materials and services at the best possible terms and quality to mitigate risks to the organization. This role is also responsible for maintaining vendor relationships and evaluating vendors to ensure risk mitigation and a great customer experience. This individual will work closely with all areas of the organization, especially the Projects and Solutions teams. 

Which tasks will you perform? 

  • Perform day-to-day purchasing tasks independently, including RFQ process, part number creation and maintenance, negotiations, purchase order creation, documentation, follow-up, and expediting.   
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Solutions teams to understand project requirements and develop procurement strategies that align with project timelines and budgetary constraints.  
  • Collaborate with other internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and provide timely support and guidance.  
  • Manage supplier relationships effectively, including supplier performance management and resolution of discrepancies regarding invoicing, purchase orders, deliveries, and communication. 
  • Evaluate and maintain approved supplier database, with the drive to continuously work towards supplier consolidation.  
  • Implement new ideas and processes to save money and increase efficiency in the Procurement team or other departments within the company.  

What do we expect from you? 

You will have (required): 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 

You may have (preferred): 

  • Minimum of 1 year in a procurement role with proven track record in negotiating savings, identifying process opportunities, planning, buying, expediting, etc. in both indirect and direct purchasing. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting information clearly, articulating complex technical issues, and engaging with individuals at all levels.  
  • Ability to work and make informed decisions independently and on own initiative. 
  • Demonstrates trust, respect, and support for others, fostering teamwork and a collaborative spirit. Collaborates effectively with others, sometimes across departments, to achieve organizational goals and enhance customer experience. 
  • Builds and maintains strong, trustworthy business relationships, leveraging long-term partnerships to achieve collective success.   
  • Prioritizes the customer perspective in business decisions by actively seeking to understand customer needs and problems, initiating solutions based on this understanding, and implementing feedback to enhance the overall experience and prevent future issues.

  • Excels in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, effectively prioritizing tasks while adapting to shifting demands.   
  • Collaborates effectively with others, sometimes across departments, to achieve organizational goals and enhance customer experience.   
  • Ability to identify areas for improvement, develop action plans, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
